xThe New Balance 550 “Burgundy” is a stately look for the retro basketball and lifestyle shoe that enjoyed a surge in popularity in 2020 and 2021. The 550 rose from relative obscurity to become an unlikely shoe at the forefront of sneaker culture thanks to its placement in collaborations with New York City based streetwear brand Aimé Leon Dore. While not a part of Aimé Leon Dore and New Balance’s ongoing partnership, the “Burgundy” is no less desirable than any of the duo’s decidedly nostalgia-inducing colorways. The retro design features smooth and perforated white leather on the upper. Burgundy accenting on the “550” branding on the forefoot and “N” insignia on the mid-panel contrast the white leather base. Classic “NB” detailing appears in burgundy on the heel. The pre-yellowed midsole is a nod to the old school vibe of the venerable basketball shoe. Release date: May 7, 2021.
